-Champions are one of the most important aspects of the game. There are champions that are great at duels (PVP), and there are champions that are great at monster hunt or unicorn/guardian (PVE). Are you going for both or are you going for one or the other?
1. Get as many champions as possible and get as many soul shards as possible. You will need them to creep ahead of the rest of the server.
2. Champions can be very complex. They intermix with Runes and gear and you can only afford to upkeep at most 4 sets of gear around level 55+. After that you are going to go broke and your team level is going to slowly climb ahead of your gear level. I see a lot of level 80's with gear that is still level 62 ish.
3. Realize that you need a healer, a tanky type character and that there are different stages that you will progress through as your gear gets better. You want atleast one spell damage and one attack damage on your team. As you get higher level you wont need a healer so bad or a tank so bad.
4. if your willing to spend oodles of diamonds, some of these things can be overlooked more or less. Mythic gear and Epic diamonds can propel you to the point where you wont need a healer or tank on unicorn.
5. Tanks/Healers aren't required on Monster Hunt. While Monster Hunt doesn't seem that big of a deal, one person at the level 36-55 group and 56-80 group is growing rich much faster than the rest. To be in that seat is to be like a god in my opinion. If you are in the top 5 seats in the 36-55 group, stop leveling for awhile and farm epic diamonds for awhile to get all your gear to atleast 3 star if not 4 star. 4 star epics are more or less on par with zero star mythics. If your in the top 5 spots 56-80 your probably not reading this to get information, you are gods.
6. Diamonds cannot solve all your problems in the game. Rare, epic, and Mythic Diamonds are the hardest and probably most important thing to get in the game.
7. Runes are very hard to get and you cannot speed the process up. You need tons and tons to get all 7 runes to mythic status. one rune costs, 15+30+60+120= 225 runes. You get 26 a day without bounty and 10 additional if you spend the 110 diamonds to go two more rounds. Your lucky if you can get 45 in one day total. 225x7= 1575/35 days at best if you only concentrate on 7 runes. Which you wont. You will most likely need 10-12 runes depending on your style.
8. 3 star champions do slightly less damage but almost exactly what a 5 star champion does on unicorn and monster hunt. So you can build a team of all 3 star champions and do pretty well provided you have three 5 star champions so you have opened up your synergy.
9. You don't have to have the champions "In Use" for the synergy to take affect. You only have to own them. So that is one of the reasons you want as many champions as possible. To fill in all your synergy for your main champions.
10. Always look at your team composition based on what you are trying to achieve. PVE or PVP. I run Hematok, Sylvia, Hibernus for PVP. I used to use wukong but he died too fast so I replaced him with Hematok.
11. In the end your going to have around 6 champions that you use. Your going to end up 5 starring a ton of champions though for the synergy abilities which do make a significant difference.
Example would be: I use Hematok, Sylvia, and Hibernus for duels, I also have Wukong equipped for bloody battle. I use Hibernus, Kon Kon and Neptide for Monster Hunt and I use Hematok, Hibernus, Kon Kon or Neptide for Unicorn. still testing which champ does more damage.
12. Key to insane damage on Monster Hunt and Unicorn. Use champions that are hybrid. Examples of Hybrid champions that benefit from both spell and attack damage are Kon Kon, Neptide. Both can use either attack damage equipment or Spell damage equipment. Therefore they benefit from both synergy and they benefit from runes (Discord, and Unity). The other wonderful thing about these kinds of champions is that they can use the gear from your other heroes. Be it spell or attack damage. Maybe one or two pieces can be different but more or less, remove from one champion, equip on another. Done. No need to spend millions of gold and epic diamonds upgrading more equipment. At no point should you ever be maintaining more than 4 sets of equipment. If you have 4 sets of equipment. They are all probably level 59 and you are level 67. Your stretching yourself too thin.
UNICORN- Hematok in my opinion is key. I have heard of other champions being able to tank and survive the unicorn without a healer, but they do not last the full time and are normally geared to the teeth with mythics and mythic diamonds. I could be wrong on this one, but I think I am close. Hematok is nice because he produces moderate damage and he takes the place as a healer and tank. His ultimate ability increases attack speed and it increases lifesteal by 25%. Combine that with Hibernus synergy increase of lifesteal +4.5% and around 30% Cooldown Reduction and you have a Hematok that can last the entire time and produce good damage. You still need around 8% Lifesteal on Hematok to survive btw and running out towards the end and letting your other champions tank a bit is key. Then use full damage runes except Sanctum to give each champion a little longer to tank and Hematok will get two sanctum procs and thats not bad. I did tonight on a level 48 with power level 30k, 7 million damage. That doesn't sound that amazing but I am level 48 with fairly good gear, but still missing a lot of equipment. My runes are still only epic and I haven't gotten all my accessories yet.
MONSTER HUNT- Go for all damage. Lifesteal means nothing here, attack speed, full damage runes, as well as synergy. Discord and Unity make a difference when you have one attack damage champion and two spell damage champions or vise versa. That could be the difference in 19.2 or 18.2. A lot of people can fall between those two numbers and knock you down the list and out of the epic gems. As well look at champions that do only damage abilities. Some champions waste time using abilities that are meant more for PVP and waste valuable time doing little damage. Hematok's axe throw is an example. I don't use that much on Unicorn. Only for positioning (bloody repear).
I don't really have a lot to say about bloody battle or Dueling other then have good gear on all your champions. Some champions like sylvia need CDR to win and lose to certain champions 100% of the time. Bane/tai destroys my sylvia almost every time instantly. Learn which champions beat which and learn what equipment works best on each champion. Don't do what I did and leave it unequiped and forge it as well. Use one of your spare champions as a pack mule. I forged an accessory and two boots on accident one time. It is frustrating to say the least.
Dueling- this system in my opinion is somewhat broken. There are champions that when put together are just unbeatable. So at the top of your dueling charts you have a lot of the same builds. Mainly champions such as Thanatos, Hibernus, Raijin, Rhagavar. Then you have sprinkled other misc champions in there. Have the same build and better gear and higher mastery level. Thats it for dueling.
